Peter's Green picks for the Holidays 2007:

5) CASH - It's green, it saves on packaging & fuel and it’s always used. Never returned and everyone likes it. Avoids unnecessary trips to the mall to return unwanted gifts.

4) INDOOR AND OUTDOOR PLANTS - They're healthy, they absorb CO2, and they give people something to care for that can last years as a reminder. New plants can often times be grown from clippings of the original plant and given out as gifts the following year. It’s the gift that keeps on giving!

3) HOME AIR PUMP WITH TIRE PRESSURE GAGE – Everybody’s tires need to be inflated to receive the best gas mileage. Hardly any places still offer free air. Properly inflated tires will save 144 gallons of gas each year and increase the life of the tire.

2) WATER SAVING DEVICES OR WATER FILTERS – Purchase a low flow shower head, faucet or shut off valve for outdoor hoses to save energy and water. Water filters help reduce the need for purchasing bottled water which cut down the amount of plastics that can potentially end up in the landfill.

1) ENERGY SAVING BULBS - Consider LED Holiday lights which are 90% more efficient and generate less heat than incandescent Holiday lights. Compact fluorescent bulbs and dimmable energy saving bulbs make a great gift and can save 75% of your home energy needs for lighting.
